Naples, FL- Joe D'Urso, singer, songwriter and anti-hunger advocate, will perform his brand of good old-fashioned rock and roll at a unique fundraiser Saturday, Feb. 13 at a private home in North Naples.
Donations for the Harry Chapin Food Bank and WhyHunger will be accepted throughout the event, which begins at 7:30 p.m., presented by WhyHunger, Homemade Jams and 1-800-GRANOLA®.
D'Urso is a member of the board of directors of WhyHunger, the organization to fight hunger founded in 1975 by Harry Chapin and Radio DJ. Bill Ayres.
D’Urso’s music is described as rootsy, introspective, rocking and forceful; as a long-time performer, he’s known for bringing to life great stories through song. He’s also passionate about helping the less fortunate and has been involved with AHAP (Artists Against Hunger and Poverty) as well as WhyHunger.
WhyHunger was founded on the fundamental belief that access to nutritious food is a human right and hunger is a solvable problem in a world of abundance, according to the website www.whyhunger.org. Harry's daughter, Jen Chapin and Harry's brother, Tom Chapin, both musician/songwriters, are also on the board of directors.
D'Urso's website, http://www.jdcaravan.com, features this quote from Jen Chapin:
"Joe brings to his life and music the magic combination of passion and purpose. We at World Hunger Year (former name of WhyHunger) are proud to count him among our most valued friends! Keep on rocking Joe, and thank you!"
