Hunger Walk Committee Making Plans

The planning committee for the 2015 WINK News Feeds Families Hunger Walk is making plans for the event to be held on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Miromar Outlets in Estero.  The Hunger Walk is the Harry Chapin Food Bank’s largest fundraiser of the year, having raised more than $1 million since 2008 to help feed Southwest Floridians. More than 1,000 people attended the 2014 Walk, raising over $300,000.  

Anne Rose from Lee Memorial Health System and Dr. Michael Weiss from Gastroenterology Associates of SW Florida are co-chairs of the event.  Lois Thome of WINK News is the honorary chairperson.

The Harry Chapin Food Bank solicits, collects and stores quality food for distribution to families in need through a network of more than 150 nonprofit agencies in Lee, Collier, Hendry, Charlotte and Glades counties that provide food to more than 30,000 people monthly. In 2013, the Harry Chapin Food Bank distributed 17.5 million pounds of food, provided 14.6 million meals and turned every $1 into $6 worth of food for those in need.
