We LOVE Food Bank volunteers! Volunteers are extremely important to the Harry Chapin Food Bank, as without their labor of love we simply could not accomplish our mission.
In FY 2011-2012 (ending June 30, 2012) 2,352 volunteers collectively provided 36,000 hours which equates to $783,350 in provided In-Kind Service (the value of a volunteer hour according to the 2011 Independent Sector report is $21.79/hour).
If you have special interests like photography, carpentry, computers, or other hard-to-find skills, let us know! We can always find a fun and meaningful way for you to contribute to the Harry Chapin Food Bank. During regular weekday business hours and most Saturdays, you can help our warehouse team prepare orders for agencies, receive incoming donations, or answer telephones on our busy switchboard.
Your food bank also needs help at festivals, shows, fairs, walks, and food drives. Sponsored activities and food and fund drives are vital to the growth and sustainability of the food bank and so are you!
