Zita, also a first-time food recipient, had a full-time job as a banquet server. Slowly the hours dwindled to part time, then no time. “It’s a difficult position,” she said. Her husband is working but doesn’t make enough to cover the bills. They recently bought a house, never dreaming that there would be a coronavirus pandemic. “If I knew about that, we wouldn’t buy the home,” she said. Still, she tries to be optimistic. “We’ll get through this,” she said.
