Senior Programs Frequently Asked Questions

Please click a question below to view the answer:

  • You may pick up your box at the site you are registered at. View the calendar online or pick up a calendar at a distribution for all locations, dates & times.

  • Times vary at each site; please refer to the calendar or site schedule for specific times. If you arrive at a distribution after distribution ended, you will not be able to pick up your box that day. Agencies should provide you with a list of make up days, if applicable

  • Each participant receives one box each month.

  • To pick up a box, you must bring a picture ID. (Photocopy version is okay so long as it is clear.)

  • Once each year for CSFP clients only. CNS clients do not need to recertify.

  • Your recertification month is listed on the monthly signature sheet and you must recertify that month, or you will not be able to continue to pick up a box until you do so. The Harry Chapin Food Bank will try our best to remind participants at the site the month before when it is time for them to recertify and what materials to bring.

  • If you are unable to pick up your box, you may have another person pick up your box by filling out a proxy form.

At the distribution, the proxy needs to show Food Bank staff the proxy’s picture id. Proxies do not need to bring the participant’s id.

  • Proxies may pick up for as many clients as they are registered for. There is no maximum.

  • According to government regulations, we can only give you the current month’s box(es). Please call 2-1-1 for alternative food assistance.

  • Please be considerate of others around you and do not cut in line. Participants unable to stand in line may have a person stand in line for them. They may also notify a Food Bank or agency staff member, who will give them a chair and mark their place in line for them.

  • If staffing allows, we will try our best to help you.

  • Selling any food from the box is not allowed. If caught selling food, you will be suspended for 1 year.

  • If a participant is:

    • Harassing fellow participants in line
    • Harassing Food Bank staff
    • Participants who cut in line
    • Participants who have been seen selling program food
