Harry Chapin Food Bank and Publix Super Markets are offering one day and many ways to help feed people who are hungry in Southwest Florida.
On Feb. 8, the food bank and Publix are partnering in “Feeding Southwest Florida,” a one-day food drive at all 62 Publix stores in Charlotte, Collier and Lee counties. Residents are invited to shop at any of these stores from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to support our mission to lead our community in the fight to end hunger.
The food will be distributed through food bank programs to help feed the 1 in 8 people in Southwest Florida, including 1 in 5 children, who may not know where their next meal is coming from. All you need to do to participate is visit a Publix store, purchase one or more items, and donate them as you leave to the food bank staff and volunteers set up in the lobby or outside.
Any donation of nonperishable food is welcome, but we will be distributing most needed item lists at each Publix store.
The food you donate will help supply these Harry Chapin Food Bank programs: Care and Share: Senior Feeding Program, Harry’s Helpings, In-School Pantries and Fulfill Mobile Pantries. The food bank also distributes
