The Harry Chapin Food Bank is inviting its partner agencies, community partners and members of the public to check out the food bank’s new Collier County Center at an open house from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7.
Attendees will be able to tour the 13,500-square-foot center at 3940 Prospect Ave. in Naples and enjoy light refreshments .
The new center is a complement to the Harry Chapin Food Bank’s Fort Myers Distribution Center at 3760 Fowler St. The food bank previously operated in Collier County out of space leased from Meals of Hope in Naples, one of the food bank’s partner agencies. As both entities continue to grow, moving to a new space became necessary.
The new center provides quadruple the space for the food bank, including an expansive lobby, new office space, new community meeting room, break room, conference room and warehouse space.
“We have been an important part of the Naples community for more than 20 years,” said Richard LeBer, food bank president and CEO. “We are excited about having a new home that reflects our position here. “
The Collier Center will help build closer connections with Naples donors, volunteers and partner agencies, and help the food bank expand its services throughout Collier County, LeBer said.
Volunteer opportunities are also available for various businesses and corporations at the center.
The Harry Chapin Food Bank provides food to more than 30 nonprofit agencies in Collier County and through its mobile pantry program, called Fulfill. The food bank has grown food distribution more than 90 percent in Collier County since 2013, with 4.8 million pounds distributed last fiscal year.
If you wish to attend the open house on Wednesday, Feb. 7, please RSVP to Meg Madzar at 239-334-7007, ext. 120 or mmadzar@harrychapinfoodbank.org.
