The Harry Chapin Food Bank invites Southwest Florida families to participate in its third Family Volunteer Day from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the food bank’s Fort Myers Distribution Center, 3760 Fowler St.
The free event is open to families with children age 10 and older. They will receive a tour of our 55,000-square-foot warehouse and learn how the food bank works to feed about 28,000 people per week. Participants will also pack food items for the clients we serve. They can also create designs and decorate paper bags that contain food for our senior Care and Share program.
The first Family Volunteer Day was held on June 10, 2017 and the events have been a big hit with the community. The volunteers not only walk away with the good feeling that comes from knowing they helped those in need, but with new knowledge about what the food bank does and how we do it. Please join us!
To register, go to harrychapinfoodbank.org and click on the volunteer tab. All participants must wear closed-toe shoes. For questions, email Tanya Phillips, our Lee county volunteer coordinator, at tphillips@harrychapinfoodbank.org
