The WINK Feeds Families Hunger Walk is at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 19, a week from Saturday. The Walk benefits the Harry Chapin Food Bank.
The two-mile, non-competitive, family and pet-friendly walk will kick off at 9:30 a.m. at Miromar Outlets in Estero. Registration the day of the walk starts at 8:30 a.m. There’s still time to register online for this year’s walk at winkhungerwalk.com. You can walk as an individual, or walk with a team. The 2018 walk had more than 1,000 registered walkers and raised $319,000. The food bank wants to top that total this year.
The walk supports emergency food programs that feed children, families, seniors and others in need through the food bank’s network of more than 150 partner agencies in Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Glades and Hendry counties. These agencies operate food pantries, soup kitchens and other feeding programs that serve 28,000 Southwest Floridians each week. All funds will stay in the Southwest Florida area.
Bring the kids, bring the grandparents, bring your pets, bring your co-workers! We will have clowns and face painters, and for the first time, a special craft station for kids.
Added to the mix will be refreshments from Sun Harvest Citrus, Panera Bread and others, as well as a raffle with a large array of prizes, including round trip airfare for two.
