WINK Feeds Families Hunger Walk preliminary total is an estimated $212,000 150 150 Harry Chapin Food Bank

The 11th annual WINK Feeds Families Hunger Walk Saturday featured hundreds of walkers who strolled under sunny skies on a perfect Southwest Florida day, for a common goal: to help the Harry Chapin Food Bank feed the hungry. At the end of their two-mile route, they had raised a preliminary $212,000.

The Hunger Walk, held at the Miromar Outlets in Estero, is the food bank’s biggest fundraiser of the year.

“We’re so grateful for the generous support of our wonderful volunteers and walkers who came out to support us on this beautiful, sunny day to help feed our hungry neighbors,” said Richard LeBer, food bank president and CEO.

The Walk supports emergency food programs that feed children, families, seniors and others in need through the food bank’s network of more than 150 partner agencies. These agencies operate food pantries, soup kitchens and other feeding programs that serve 28,000 Southwest Floridians each week.

All funds from the Walk will stay in the five-county area that the food bank serves: Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry and Lee counties.

The Walk is presented by Bill Smith Appliances & Electronics and the Copperleaf Charitable Foundation. The lead sponsor is the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. The major sponsor is 7-Eleven. We thank them and all of our other sponsors and supporters.
