Ronald 1920 2560 Harry Chapin Food Bank

Ron goes to the Florida SouthWestern State College distribution to receive food. After the first time he attended, he sent us this email: “Thank you for all you do for me and the community.  I’m 81 and I’m thankful for the nutritious groceries, and for me, it makes a big difference in my life.  Keep up the good work!”

We connected with Ron the next time he came to the food distribution. He’s retired and was formerly employed as a maintenance worker. There are four people living in his household, including his wife, stepdaughter and niece. The food he receives helps both financially and nutritionally, he said.

Still, he said they are barely getting along. Ron is also a member of the segment of population most vulnerable to the coronavirus. “I can’t go anywhere. I’m isolated. I have COPD. If I get a cold, I’m dead,” he said. “If I get this virus, I’ll have to kiss you goodbye.”
