Yesterday, late in the afternoon, our Routing Logistics Manager, Ken, had a text exchange (shown above) with one of our partner organizations located in Charlotte County. Earlier in the day Ken had taken a truck load of food to this organization just in time for their pantry distribution. That delivery served a total of 157 cars, 558 people of which 109 were seniors, 263 were adults and 186 were kids.
On average, our trucks make 3 to 4 deliveries each day. With each truck load we deliver, we are providing food for roughly 300 families. We have a fleet of more than 17 trucks so that means our fleet is delivering food for roughly 15,300 families every day!
One family that has been out to our drive-thru distribution is Ciera and her two little kids. Ciera was a server at a restaurant and lost her job due to the pandemic. Ciera is worried about how long the economic fallout will last. She is grateful that we are providing her family with food.
The impact that each delivery has on the families we serve, like Ciera, cannot be understated. With so many in Southwest Florida without work, our mission is the safety net for those who are hungry in our community. We delivered into our five-county footprint this week 749,060 meals to those who are hungry. That is an enormous amount of love and food in each delivery and our gratitude to those who help make this happen. Together, we are making a difference.
